I woke up at 7 am and decided I could get a hike in and still be home in time for my appointment. I have been trying explore new trails so this morning, I looked in my Arkansas Hiking Trails book and found a trail just about 50 minutes away, Lake Sylvia Loop. According to the book it is a 4.1 mile loop.
As I traveled there, I enjoyed the beautiful views. I was thinking, just 50 minutes away from my home and I am in a completely different world. Whenever I go out for a hike, I always ask God to open my eyes to what it is He wants me to see. I pray that He allows me to see what I can understand to try to help me understand that which is much greater than my comprehension.
When I got there, the gates lading to the camp area and swimming hole were closed. This was not as I had planned. As adventurous as I would like to think I am, I still have hesitation when I am doing something I've never done before. So, I wondered if that meant the trails were closed too. I didn't want to do the wrong thing. So I was hesitant about entering and I was also on a time schedule.
I had driving an hour, I was going to attempt this trail. So I started a trail. It ended up being not the trail described in my book, so after about a 1/2 miles, I started back. I set my tracker to 1 hour. I would go out as far as 30 minutes would get me and then head back so I could get back home on time.
