7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
The Bible tells me that God can give you peace beyond understanding. It says that in the face of chaos I can feel calm. For some that may seem far-fetched, but for me it is real.
On the day before I left New Orleans, to never return to a standing home, I felt peace. Sure, I didn’t know the devastation that would come to pass, but even the thought of it did not put my heart on edge. Absolutely you can say that because I had no idea or even any point of reference at that time of what Hurricane Katrina would look like, I had no need to be uneasy. Well, that’s debatable.
I had left home other times and returned, from what had turned out to be a short get-away. So, because of my frame of reference, I could not forecast, or even in my thoughts conjure up what my home would look like, post-Katrina, but I had envisioned some destruction.
