He was 10, so he was past the training wheel stage. I was going to teach him how to ride a bike and it would give him an outside activity and I had plans of buying me a bike and we could ride together.
I brought the bike home with a bow on and it was his big gift for Christmas that year. When he came in to open his gifts, he was so excited. He opened all the small gifts and then looked around, knowing he would have a big gift so I pointed to the bike. The smile faded into a confused look.
So, I had to bring the excitement back, so with as much enthusiasm I could muster I told him, "Look, you have a bike."
